About A Weekend Of Heroes
A Weekend of Heroes is the largest military action figure toy show in North America. Our goal is to keep history alive, to honor military heroes both past and present, through a weekend of action figure fun. A Weekend of Heroes bridges the generation gap through intricate battle dioramas, custom figures, and costume contests.
A Weekend of Heroes carries on military history by combing pop culture with real heroes.
Since 2002, A Weekend of Heroes has honored personalities via exclusive 12” action figures such as US Army Ranger Col. (ret) Danny McKnight (Black Hawk Down), Medal of Honor recipient US Army Lt. Walt Ehlers, US Army medic Ed Pepping, 506th of the 101st (WW II “Band of Brothers”), Austrian Prince Alfred Von Hasberg (WW II), President of the Russian Stalingrad Veterans Association, Col. Kozlov, US Army Ranger Capt. Nathan Self (Afghanistan), late USAF Para-rescue Jumper Jason Cunningham (Afghanistan), Silver Star recipient US Army Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester (Iraq), Medal of Honor recipient US Army Maj. Alfred Rascon (Vietnam), US Army LRRP Sgt. Kenn Miller (Vietnam) and Silver Star recipient US Army Col. (ret) Paul Longgrear (Vietnam), to name a few.
While history is largely omitted in schools, A Weekend of Heroes provides informative and educational seminars from noted military heroes. Attendees of the event find themselves in a creative environment along with others who appreciate military history.
When asked why A Weekend of Heroes was created, founder John Lu said: “When I was a child growing up in Taiwan in the late 60’s and early 70’ I experienced the kindness of many wonderful US servicemen due to my mother’s diplomatic status. Captains and Lieutenants would take me to ‘Toyland’ at the PX and bought me GI Joe! This is my opportunity to give back and make sure the true essence of the American service man/woman is not forgotten.”
If you enjoy collecting action figures (vintage or present), remote controlled tanks, building dioramas, or simply marvel military costumes and appreciate military history, A Weekend of Heroes is the perfect weekend for you!
